Guide to Signal Without Revealing Your Identity

A Guide to Secure Communication with Signal While Keeping Your Real Identity Private

In this guide, we will explain step by step a communication method that does not require you to share any personal information (such as your phone number or full name). It is prepared for individuals who wish to contact us without revealing their real identity. With the Signal application, you can send messages and make calls securely while keeping your identity confidential.

Part 1: Installing the Signal Application

Signal is a secure, ad-free communication tool that encrypts all messages and calls end-to-end. The installation process is as follows.

1.1. Downloading the App

  • For Android devices: Open the Google Play Store, search for “Signal Private Messenger”, and install it.

  • For iPhone (iOS) devices: Open the App Store, search for “Signal”, and install it.

The application is completely free.

1.2. Registering

  1. Open the app and grant the requested permissions (access to contacts, notifications, etc.).

  2. Enter your phone number. Signal uses this number only for verification purposes and does not share it with anyone.

  3. Enter the verification code sent to you via SMS.

  4. Add a profile name and an optional profile picture to complete the registration.

Part 2: Creating a Username to Hide Your Real Identity

Signal offers a “Username” feature that allows you to conceal your phone number. With this feature, the person you communicate with knows you only by a nickname; they will not see your phone number or real name.

Steps:

  1. Open the Signal app and tap on your profile icon (usually a letter or an icon) in the top right corner.

  2. Go to “Profile” or “Username”.

  3. Create a username. It must be in the format @example_user. This name uniquely identifies you.

  4. You will use this username when contacting us.

Configuring Privacy Settings (Very Important):

To ensure that your phone number is never visible to anyone:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Phone Number.

  • Set “Who can see my number” to “Nobody”.

  • Set “Who can find me by my number” to “Nobody”.

Once these settings are complete, the people you communicate with will only see your username; no personal information such as your phone number, real name, or photo will be shared with the other party.

Part 3: Contacting Us via Signal

Now that you have installed Signal and configured your privacy settings, you can write to us by following these steps.

  1. On the Signal home screen, tap the new message icon (pen and paper) in the bottom right corner.

  2. In the recipient field, enter the username created for us: @monariqe.90

  3. Tap on the profile that appears and start sending your message.

After these steps, all your conversations and calls will be end-to-end encrypted, without revealing your real identity.
